About me

I am a postdoctoral researcher working with James Henderson at Idiap's Natural Language Understanding group. In 2016, I earned a PhD in Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) with Andrei Popescu-Belis and Hervé Bourlard. During 2014, I did an internship at Columbia University on understanding multilingual visual sentiment with Shih-Fu Chang. In 2011, I earned an MSc in Information Management working with Efstathios Stamatatos on Sentiment Analysis, and in 2009, a Computer Engineering diploma working with George Vouros on Semantics; both at University of the Aegean.

Generally, my research resides on the intersection of Natural Language processing and Machine Learning. In particular, I am interested in fine-grained sentiment analysis, explainable document modeling, information retrieval, multilingual language understanding, distance metric learning and weakly supervised models.
